Coastal Conservation League applauds the final passage of Energy Freedom Act<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

CHARLESTON, S.C. \u2014 Following today\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Senate vote in favor of the Energy Freedom Act (House Bill 3659<\/a>),\u00a0Executive Director Laura Cantral<\/strong> issued the following <\/span>statement<\/span>. The bill will head next to the House of Representatives for a concurrence vote and then to the desk of Governor Henry McMaster, who is expected to sign it into law.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Today is a bright day in South Carolina.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Energy Freedom Act is a win for our state, its economy, and the environment. The bill brings us a step closer to a future where all South Carolinians have access to clean, affordable, and renewable energy options that can advance healthy communities and meet the demands of a changing climate.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We commend state lawmakers for again finding a way to generate collaborative, bipartisan progress on <\/span>solar<\/span> energy, and we thank the lead sponsors of the bill, Senator Tom Davis and Representative Peter McCoy, for enabling our <\/span>solar<\/span> industry to continue to grow and innovate.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following agreement by the House and the governor’s signature, it will be up to the Public Service Commission to support this legislation and implement new policies that further invest in <\/span>solar<\/span> energy in South Carolina.<\/span><\/p>\n
