Juliana was born and raised along the banks of the Savannah River in North Augusta, SC. She has lived in the Lowcountry for nearly two decades after moving to the area to attend the College of Charleston. Her love of the area’s boundless wetlands was fostered through many “nature days” exploring local wild places and cultivated during a career as a naturalist.
After earning a Bachelors in behavioral science and a Masters of Education in science and math from CofC, she developed an outdoor education program for local students facilitating science lessons in nature. She joined the League in 2019 to advocate for policies and practices that protect the habitats she’s encouraged so many people to learn about. In her free time, you can find her birding, exploring, searching for and photographing native orchids and insects, or creating art inspired by nature.
