TOMORROW: Coastal Conservation League To Take Part in Press Conference on Transportation Funding

by Andy Hollis

Columbia, SC — On Wednesday, June 10th, the South Carolina Coastal Conservation League will hold a press conference with partner organizations at the South Carolina Statehouse to discuss the legislature’s failed attempt at raising the gas tax this session.

Addressing the news conference will be Dana Beach, executive director of the Coastal Conservation League; Ashley Landess, president of the South Carolina Policy Council; JoAnne Day, vice president of the League of Women Voters of South Carolina; Talbert Black, state coordinator of South Carolina Campaign for Liberty; and Dave Schwartz, state director of Americans For Prosperity.

The speakers will discuss the importance of funding reforms as well as the House and the Senate’s unwillingness to approve even modest assurances that new transportation funding be allocated based on state priorities rather than diverted to politically-motivated projects.
