CHARLESTON, SC – In response to today’s vote in the S.C. House of Representatives (64-33) to pass House Bill 4421, a bill that would lift a 2 percent cap on solar energy in South Carolina and give more South Carolinians the tools to reduce their power bills, Coastal Conservation League Energy and Climate Program Director Eddy Moore issued the following statement:

Today was a dramatic, great day for solar energy in South Carolina.

Representatives James Smith, Peter McCoy, Nathan Ballentine, Mandy Powers Norrell, Gary Clary, Leon Stavrinakis and Micah Caskey beat back multiple attempts to weaken legislation that will enable solar growth in our state for years to come.

We thank all 64 House members who voted to pass House Bill 4421, and we urge the Senate to quickly pass this bill.
