In response to news of a Dominion bid to buy SCANA, Coastal Conservation League Energy and Climate Director Eddy Moore issued the following statement:

“Any long-term solution to skyrocketing power bills needs strong energy efficiency programs and cheap renewable energy to create lasting savings, not just one-off checks. State regulators have a great deal of flexibility to add beneficial conditions to the sale.

Dominion has a record of developing solar projects in South Carolina, and we look forward to working with them to ensure that big, risky fossil fuel projects don’t derail a low-cost renewable energy future.”
