Beach Sweep/River Sweep

On Saturday, Sept. 22, we are hosting a fun marsh clean-up with Charleston Waterkeeper. Please join us for this year’s Marsh Sweep and help keep our local waterways clean!

Marsh Sweep
Saturday, Sept. 22 starting at 9 a.m.
Meet on Johnson Street, near Seabreeze Marina
50 Immigration St., Charleston 29403

All ages are welcome. Please bring your family and friends. You can register to volunteer on Charleston Waterkeeper’s website here.

The clean-up will start at 9 a.m. on Johnson Street, just before the Seabreeze Marina. We will meet under the ramp to the Ravenel Bridge near the Cooper River. The clean-up shift will take place from 9 to 11 a.m., and the sorting and recycling shift will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

You will probably get wet and dirty, so dress appropriately, wear your boots and bring a water bottle. We will have sunscreen, bug spray and water available — and we’ll also give away a few prizes after the clean-up!

The Sept. 22 event is part of the annual Beach Sweep/River Sweep, one of the state’s largest volunteer events to support South Carolina’s waterways. Since 1988, South Carolina Sea Grant Consortium and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources have organized thousands of volunteers each year. Now you can be a part of the effort.

We look forward to seeing you there!
