TAKE ACTION: The trees still need your voice

by Leslie Bogstad

As a reminder, Thursday night, Charleston County Council will hold the first reading and vote on whether to approve or deny Charleston County Public Work’s request for exemption from the tree protection and preservation ordinance. We need you there to voice your opposition.

Charleston County Council Meeting
Thursday, November 30th at 5:00 PM
Council Chambers, 2nd Floor, Lonnie Hamilton, III Public Services Building
4045 Bridge View Drive, North Charleston

Thank you for speaking out on behalf of Charleston County’s irreplaceable grand trees! We hope to see you there.

As a reminder, in October, the Planning Commission unanimously voted to recommend DENIAL of the proposed amendments to the tree protection and preservation ordinance. The amendments then went before Charleston County Council for a public hearing and now will go to County Council for a vote.

For more information on the tree amendments check out our blog post on the issue or give a listen to the SURGE Radio segment I recorded with Charleston Climate Coalition on Ohm Radio.

You can always email County Council with your concerns about the proposed amendments. You can find contact information here and talking points here

And, also add your name to the Charleston Speak Up petition organized by a group of citizens dedicated to the trees of Charleston County.
