Solar Frees Upstate Family From Power Grid


The State’s Sammy Fretwell examines the life of a South Carolina couple who have found a way to become completely independent from their electric utility. They rely almost exclusively on solar for their electricity needs, and a bank of batteries makes that power available even when the sun doesn’t shine. Surprisingly, they still enjoy the use of typical modern appliances.
