A native of Minnesota, Leah attended Smith College and later earned her M.A. in International Relations and International Economics from Johns Hopkins University. While in Washington, she worked with two microfinance organizations, FINCA International and Grameen Foundation USA, that support women entrepreneurs in developing countries by providing them with access to loans and other financial tools. She then served as an institutional relationship manager for Nuveen Investments for nearly 8 years. On a trip to coastal North Carolina, her passion for outdoor recreation was extended to kitesurfing. She fell in love with the sport, eventually quitting her day job to become a kiteboarding coach. Before joining GrowFood Carolina, she travelled solo through South America, volunteered with The Nature Conservancy and FUNDECOR, and got married. In her new role at GrowFood Carolina, Leah will leverage her expertise in economics and her mission-oriented attitude to drive sales for GrowFood’s partner farms.
