Crab Bank Pelicam Launches
Coastal Conservation League and partners launch online live stream of pelicans nesting from Charleston Harbor
The Coastal Conservation League and our partners at the SC Department of Natural Resources, Stasmayer Inc, Charleston Harbor Pilots, Coastal Expeditions, and Mount Pleasant Radio have launched a live video stream of nesting pelicans on Crab Bank in Charleston Harbor. Watch it at http://coastalconservationleague.org/pelicam/.
Coastal Conservation League Executive Director Dana Beach said, “Crab Bank is one of the great wildlife sanctuaries on our continent –and it’s even more amazing because it is in the middle of our urban region. The Crab Bank Pelicam– the only live webcam of pelicans in existence—makes it possible for people around the world to witness this remarkable drama of birth and regeneration.”
In Charleston Harbor, near Shem Creek, pelicans and other seabirds are starting their nesting season in the Crab Bank Seabird Sanctuary. Coastal Conservation League and our partners have worked for more than 3 years to bring a live online stream of this wild place, that happens to be in the heart of Charleston Harbor.
The Coastal Conservation League is a non-profit advocacy organization dedicated to protecting the coastal resources of South Carolina. Our mission is to protect the natural landscapes, abundant wildlife, clean water and traditional communities by working with citizens, local governments and the state legislature.
