Did you know that cruise ships can legally discharge raw sewage and one-inch bits of garbage only 3 miles from shore? Did you know that wastewater treatment system standards have not been updated since 1976? Communities across the country are taking matters into their own hands, and demanding that cruise ships meet higher standards.

This forum, hosted by CCL, the Preservation Society of Charleston, cleansupPORT.info, and the Committee to Save the City, will bring the continent’s experts on cruise ships together for Charleston to learn about the issues associated with cruise ship visits, and how we can mitigate their negative effects.
